Nutmeg was founded 35 years ago and it is a "nonprofit organization that provides free access to its TV facilities for the public, educational institutions, and government entities in central CT."

Because of Nutmeg, an immense, video database of public meetings in several area towns is available on YouTube, as well as on many municipal websites in central Connecticut.

"The need for Nutmeg TV's indispensable role as Connecticut's PEG station is more cricial than ever," said Joanie Wedler, chief executive officer of Nutmeg TV. "With more globally owned news outlets, hyperlocal transparent coverage of town government and community engagement is important for local democracy."

Nutmeg officials said they're selling the building to "broaden its business" as it looks to continue operating.

Key to that, officials said, is finding a buyer that recognizes the important of Nutmeg TV's validity as a tenant.

"Finding the perfect tenant(s) is fundamental for any successful real estate investment and Nutmeg TV is an excellent choice," said Nutmeg TV's director of technology and production, Chris Bennett.
