The scheduled work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Connecticut Water Company estimates that the detour should be complete by the end of August and the project should be complete by end of September.

According to the town, the road closure is necessary to complete a project to replace aging water infrastructure needed to maintain quality and reliable water service to Farmington customers served by the Connecticut Water Company.

"Unfortunately, the type of work being done is loud and will be disruptive to the homeowners in a residential area," town officials said in a news release. "Due to the overall disruption of this project, a decision was made to work during the day, to enable the contractor to complete the project as fast as possible.

Town officials said signs will be posted and police will be on site to direct traffic.
