UConn: State's Investment in Bioscience Becoming a Reality

State and university officials announced this morning that a world-renowned bioscience company will make a significant investment in Farmington and the state.

The University of Connecticut, in conjunction with state officials, announced this morning that Maine-based Jackson Laboratory will be building bioscience complex in Farmington.

According to UConn Today, "the project will enable Connecticut to assume a position of global leadership in developing new medical treatments tailored to each patient’s unique genetic makeup."

The project will eventually create 600 research-related jobs, more than 800 construction jobs and an estimated 6,200 spinoff and indirect employment opportunities, state and university officials said during the news conference.
