Vehicle Rampage In Farmington, Southington Man Charged: Police

The Farmington PD took the 55-year-old suspect into custody Wednesday afternoon after they said he crashed into five separate vehicles.

FARMINGTON/SOUTHINGTON, CT — A wild situation in Farmington ended Wednesday afternoon with a Southington man being taken into custody after a motorized rampage on Route 10.

According to the Farmington Police Department, a vehicle being driven by David Festa, 55, of Southington, was the cause of multiple crashes on Main Street in Farmington (Route 10).

Police said he was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment; second-degree breach of peace; evading responsibility for injury/property damage; interfering with police/resisting arrest; and reckless driving.

Police said they were dispatched to Route 10 at about 1:45 p.m. for multiple reports of crashes on that busy section of roadway.

"It was determined that a single suspect vehicle had been operating recklessly southbound on Route 10 and struck five separate vehicles," wrote the FPD in a statement late Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, the operator continued on from each accident before finally crashing near Hawthorne Lane.

Several involved drivers were evaluated for minor injuries, though none required transport to the hospital, police said.

Responding officers located the operator, later identified as Festa, who was "acting erratically and creating a disturbance," police wrote.

Festa was taken into custody for associated criminal and motor vehicle violations, and was being booked at the Farmington Police Department Wednesday evening.
