Wiffleball Tourney To Honor Farmington Teen's Legacy

The tournament at Farmington's Little League fields on Saturday, June 21, benefits a foundation urging awareness of impaired driving.

FARMINGTON, CT — A special benefit Wiffle Ball tournament in Farmington this Saturday is more than just fun and games.

It is an event that will raise awareness about a very serious subject, impaired driving.

The tournament will honor the legacy of fallen Farmington teen Luke Roux, who died in 2022 after a drunk driver crashed into his vehicle, just weeks after he graduated from high school.

The inaugural Luke Roux Foundation Wiffle Ball Tournament will take place Saturday, June 21, honoring one of the activities that defined Roux's character.

This family-friendly event will take place at the Farmington Little League fields on Woewassa Street from 9 a.m. to noon.

Even proceeds benefit the Luke Roux Foundation and its mission of raising awareness of the life-threatening dangers of impaired driving

The tournament will feature 16 teams playing Wiffle Ball in a tournament that culminates with a championship round. Play starts at 9 a.m. and continues to 2 p.m.

From 10 a.m. to noon, spectator activities kick off, including a home run derby, magician, face painter, balloon artist, raffle prizes, and concessions.

The foundation aims to reduce and eliminate fatalities caused by impaired driving.

Roux was tragically killed by a drunk driver in 2022 on his way home from a summer baseball game.

He played baseball his whole life, finishing his career with Farmington High School and the Pete Kokinis Baseball Summer League.

The foundation's awards and memorial games commemorate his legacy and support the mission of raising awareness about ensuring people never drive impaired, while encouraging others to do the same.
