In Memoriam: Antoinette 'Toni' Merrigan

The former Glastonbury resident passed away Jan. 4 at the age of 76.

Antoinette ‘Toni’ (Burgess) Merrigan, 76, of Burlington and formerly of Glastonbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the Glastonbury Healthcare Center with her family by her side, after a courageous cancer battle.

Toni was born in Oceanside (Long Island), NY and was daughter to the late Bernard and Florence (Dunn) Burgess and predeceased by sister, Frances M. Canada and nephew, Leo Joseph Waters, Jr.

She is survived and will be dearly missed by her two daughters and their families: Toni Moreau and husband Skip of Glastonbury and Amy Beup and husband Neil of Burlington, her precious grandchildren (her angels): Taylor and Emily Moreau, Trevor and Andrew Mozzer and Natalee Beup; her beloved friend Joseph Trustey of Glastonbury; numerous cherished nieces and nephews; many dear, loyal friends.

While working until the age of 74 as an Administrative Assistant and volunteering for various charities/events, Toni remained a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Along with spending time at the beach, which brought Toni peace, sewing was a continual hobby, bringing much joy throughout her life. Born on Halloween, this holiday and Christmas were two of Toni’s favorite times to spend with her family.

A time of visitation will be held Sunday, January 10, from 4-7pm at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Turnpike, Glastonbury.

Family and friends are also invited to Celebrate her Life on Monday, January 11, at 9 am for a Memorial Mass in St. Paul’s Church, 2577 Main St., Glastonbury. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Children’s Tumor Foundation, 120 Wall St., 16th fl., NY, NY 10005-3904.
