Hartford Man Charged On Three Warrants Related To Stolen Cars In Glastonbury
A 20-year-old from Hartford has been charged on three warrants in connection with a series of car thefts in Glastonbury.

GLASTONBURY, CT — A 20-year-old from Hartford has been charged on three warrants in connection with a series of automobile thefts in Glastonbury.
Police released details of the Dec. 9 arrest of Malachai Diaz Tuesday. It was connected to an investigation by the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force into incidents that took place in towns across Connecticut and Rhode Island between 2023 and 2025 and were committed by several juveniles and young adults from Hartford, Glastonbury police said.
Members of the group would steal vehicles, which were then utilized in more serious crimes including shootings, commercial burglaries, assaults and even homicides, Glastonbury police said.

In all, more that 130 incidents have been connected to the group, including 15 vehicles taken in Glastonbury during the spree, police said.
According to an arrest report, On Nov. 11, 2024, a vehicle was stolen from from a residence on Salmon Brook Dr. in Glastonbury and was used by multiple people during the spree. In one instance, a gun was pointed at a woman, according to an arrest report. Two additional arrests were previously made in connection with the incident.

Diaz has been charged with:
- First-degree criminal trover
- First-degree robbery with a deadly weapon (and a related conspiracy charge)
- Interfering with police
- Second-degree breach of peace with a violent threat
- First-degree threatening with a firearm
- Larceny of a motor vehicle (and a related conspiracy charge)
In connection with a vehicle taken from a residence on Melrose Street, Diaz has been charged with:
- Two counts of larceny if a motor vehicle and a related conspiracy charge
On connection with the theft of a vehicle from a residence on Long Hill Drive while using another stolen car, Diaz has been charged with:
- Two counts of larceny of a motor vehicle (with a related conspiracy)
- First-degree criminal trover
- Sixth-degree larceny
Each warrant carried A $250,000 bond, records show.
