East Granby's proposed 2013-2014 budget will go to referendum from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m on Tuesday May 7. Voting takes place at the Senior & Community Center, 20 Center St.
Residents will vote on whether to approve a spending plan of $20,093,553, an increase of 6.6 percent. The Board of Finance anticipates it will represent a 3.85 percent or .9 mill increase in taxes.
Residents will be asked to answer yes or no to the following:
- “Shall the Annual Budget for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014 in the amount of $4,344,540 for the General Government; $14,721,000 for the Board of Education; $578,013 for Debt Service; $450,000 for the Capital Reserve Fund; totaling $20,093,553, be adopted as recommended by the Board of Finance?”
In addition, non-binding questions include:
- In your opinion is the General Government Budget in the amount of $4,344,540, an increase of 3.0% for Fiscal Year 2013/2014, the right amount, too low, or too high?
- In your opinion is the Board of Education Budget in the amount of $14,721,000, an increase of 4.85% for Fiscal Year 2013/2014, the right amount, too low, or too high?
