Simsbury police have charged a Granby man after a Crestwood Road resident interrupted a burglary in process.

Timothy Alan Malone, 37, of 32 Glenn Road, Granby was charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief, interfering with an officer and fifth-degree larceny the evening of Aug. 8.

Shortly before 6 p.m. that evening, a resident came home to Crestwood Road and interrupted a burglary in process, police said. The resident left the home and called 9-1-1.

Malone was quickly apprehended on foot in the area, with some jewelry from the home in his possession, according to police.

Malone was held on $25,000 cash bond and appeared in Enfield Court Aug. 9, where bond was set at $50,000. He was due back in court Monday morning.

Police continue to investigate the burglary as well as one on Meadowbrook on Aug. 6 and two on Lincoln Lane in late July.

"We're looking at possibilities," Capt. Nicholas Boulter said. "We're still working on the other burglaries to see if there is a connection or not."
