Granby Police Promote Dowd to Rank of Sergeant

It's the first promotion within the department in eight years.

Granby police officer Jerry Dowd was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Friday, according to Chief of Police Carl Rosensweig.

The newly minted sergeant celebrated the moment with family and friends at a promotional ceremony at the police department on Friday morning.

Dowd, according to a press release, is a decorated 9-year veteran of the Granby Police Department. He has been a long-time member of the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad, which investigates serious and fatal accidents throughout the region. In addition, he is a field training officer and an emergency medical technician.

“Officers combined their years of experience and academic study to participate in a promotional process consisting of a written test and oral examination board,” Rosensweig wrote in a press release. “Sergeant Dowd rose to the top of the selection process.”
