Granby's New To You Consignment Store to Close Saturday

Store owner and landlord could not agree to terms on a new lease.

After fours years in business, New To You consignment shop, which straddles the border of Simsbury and Granby on Route 10, will close its doors for good at the end of the business day on Saturday, Aug. 3.

Owner Terry Dell said in an interview Friday that she and the building’s landlord could not agree to terms of a new lease.

The store sold furniture, home decor, jewelry and giftware on consignment, Dell said.

“I met a lot of nice people,” said Dell, adding that she had to call all 180 people who had things on consignment to notify them of the closing.

Dell, who has lived in Granby since 1950, said that she will open the store in a new location at the axe factory in Collinsville.

Before that, however, she still has a few things on sale at the Granby/Simsbury location, including a dining room set, which includes a table, five chairs, a hutch and a sideboard, for around $1,000.
