Have You Posted Announcements and Events on The Granbys Patch?

Take part in this easy way to let the community know what's going on in Granby and East Granby.

The Granbys Patch is always glad to receive news tips, press releases and other information from readers. But we also invite readers to directly post information themselves as an easy, quick way to let people know what's going on in the community. You can do so by adding your own announcements and keeping our events calendar up to date. Here's how!

Registration

First, you need to register if you don't already have a Patch account (don't worry, it's free). Follow this link to the registration page. Alternatively, you can go to the home page click Sign Up and click Sign Up in the top right corner. Fill in your name (this is the name that will appear on all your postings, so you want it to look nice: John Smith is better than johnsmith, for example), email address, and password. Or, you can sign up using your Facebook account.

Once you are registered, you will get an email within about 24 hours confirming your account. Every once in a while this goes to spam, so it’s good to check there if you don’t see it. Click the link to confirm your account. If you don’t, you won’t be able to post 48 hours after you signed up.

Once you're registered, you're good to go!

Posting an announcement

To post an announcement, follow this link. Alternatively, scroll to the bottom of the home page and look on the right side: in green, there's text saying "Contribute." Click "announce something to everyone." The title is the headline. Choose the most appropriate category. If you don’t find one that fits, choose "promotions," and then continue to fill in the boxes that follow. Fields with an asterisk (*) are required.

You can upload photos, videos or PDF files and type in the location in order to get a locator map. When you're finished, click the “post my announcement" button at the bottom of the page. If your location is out of town, type in the whole address (500 Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT, for example) and then the locator map will work.

Posting an event

Follow this link to post an event. Alternatively, you can find the Events tab, in the blue row of tabs near the top of the home page. Click the tab then click the "Add an Event" button on the right side of the page, directly under the blue row across the top of the page.

Fill in all the boxes and click “post my event” at the bottom. Once again, put in the full address if the location is out of town. You can post your upcoming event immediately – it will be added to the calendar right away so folks have a good heads up that something is coming up. The more notice the better!

Letting us know

Send the link to me (at perry.robbin@patch.com) once it's uploaded and I'll make sure it is featured in some way on The Granbys Patch. If the event or announcement is of regional interest, I will add it to the other Patch sites in the area.

Remember, if you have a photo or video and the permission to use it, add it to the posting to help with its visibility.
