Officials Find Women Missing In West Granby

Three women who had been lost in West Granby for nearly eight hours were found at about 7:30 p.m. after a long search by DEEP, police and k-9 officers.

The women, in their 60s, went hiking around 10 a.m. near Enders State Forest in West Granby.

According to Granby Police Cpt. William Tyler, one woman called her husband for help around 12:30 p.m. and tried to use her iPhone to convey their location but failed because the woman's phone battery died.

The search was conducted in a large, heavily wooded area bordered by Case Street, Route 219 and Firetown Road. K9 units from the Bloomfield Police, DEEP Environmental Conservation Police, and the Farmington Fire Department were deployed.

An EnCon officer finally heard the women, who were uninjured, Tyler said. The women were evaluated by Granby EMS and refused transport.
