Patch Tip Video: Make One Change, Save $200 Each Year

An easy weekend project from Dr. Energy Saver can save you a significant amount on your electricity bill.

In this Patch Clip, East Granby native Reed MacNaughton – son of owner Kirk MacNaughton and manager of new venture Dr. Energy Saver – explains an easy weekend project to immediately start saving money on your electricity bills: Replace your home's conventional light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs).

While replacing all the light bulbs in a home will cost roughly $50, the average savings after replacement is $200 a year. That's a savings of more than $15 each month.

Fluorescent light bulbs are also subsidized in state by the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund (CEEF), making them even less expensive. The CEEF is supported by a charge included in electricity and natural gas bills.
