Recount to Take Place on East Granby Budget Referendum
May 10 'recanvass' is open to the public.

East Granby will conduct a recount on its 2013-2014 budget referendum, First Selectman James Hayden said.
Town officials checked with the secretary of state's office Wednesday after the tally at Tuesday's referendum came in at 622 no votes and 618 yes votes.
According to state statute, when the difference of yes and no votes are "less than one-half of one per cent of the total number of votes cast" for the question but not more than 2,000, the moderator "shall proceed with a "recanvass," or recount.
The recount will be held at the Senior and Community Center on May 10 at 9 a.m. and is open to the public, Hayden said.
