That's My Boy, Granby Blood Pressure Clinic, East Granby Historical Room

Here are five things going on in the area today.

Good morning, Granby and East Granby! Today is Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013; there are 147 days left in the year.

So legend has it that when I was a baby, I didn’t laugh or smile until the time I saw my father fall down the stairs.

That apparently set off my despicable me, as I let out an unabashed guffaw.

Until two nights ago, my 3-month old hadn’t laughed yet. He smiles a lot, but I have to attribute that to him knowing he’s got an unbelievable mother.

Anyhoo, my little boy laughed his first in what is sure to be a lot more laughs on Sunday night when he saw his father - that’d be me - drop his ice tea on the floor.

Oh man, you would have thought he saw a Marx Brothers movie for the first time.

Actually, I’d drop a keg of ice tea on the floor again if I could get him to duplicate the laugh. Priceless.

Anyway, here are some things going on that you should know:

1. Free Blood Pressure Clinic by the Farmington Valley VNA at 9 a.m.

2. Granby Farmers’ Market Circus Day at 3 p.m.

3. In case you missed it, Officer Garofalo is doing better after being hit by an alleged drunken driver on Sunday evening.

4. Check out the East Granby Library’s Historical Room from 2 - 4 p.m. to see what East Granby looked like back in the day.

5. Craft Week at the Granby Public Library!
