What Would You Build in Granby-East Granby?

Granby-East Granby, CT - Earlier this week, Granby-East Granby Patch asked our Facebook readers what they would build or fix in town if they were given $1 million.

Readers from across the area responded with answers varying from new playgrounds, renovated high schools and improved hospitals.

Also early this week, U.S. News and World Report released its list of the Top 10 Children’s Hospitals Across the Country. The hospitals were ranked in terms of “clinical outcomes,” “efficient coordination of care,” and “care-related resources.”

The publication periodically releases lists regarding the best schools in the country as well as most livable cities. Many of the things that make a town or city ‘livable’ are resources and public spaces i.e. good schools, roads, parks, libraries, etc. Not surprisingly, these were many of the things readers said they would build or fix in their town if granted $1 million to do so.

Here’s what your neighbors said they would build in Granby-East Granby:

• "Softball fields in East Granby."
• "Find a better school plan in Granby so my son won't have to go to his 3rd school in 3 years!"
• "Merge the Granby and East Granby School System so more electives, AP, and athletic choices can be offered! Use the money for busing and transition costs."
• "A park with a built-in swimming pool & water pad for the little kids and a nice concession. Granby needs to do more for its youth! The pond at Salmon Brook is so outdated!"
• "There needs to be an indoor play place for for children. We are missing opportunities for money going back into our town every time a child's birthday party is done in Avon, East Windsor, etc for lack of places here."
• "A bicycle ramp on the bike path over Rt 20 in East Granby before someone is killed. That crossing is treacherous. The riders don't bother to look and roll into traffic all the time."
• "Splash pad for kids and a town pool!"
• "5 points intersection! Not a round-about but a stop light to slow down Mass traffic so Fern Hollow and Meadowbrook Road drivers can get on Route 10!"
