Which Road in Granby Needs a Speed Bump?

We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

GRANBY, CT - Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.

While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Granby-East Granby. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

  • "Zimmer Rd. Out-of-state drivers already use it as a cut-through to avoid "5-points" (now "4-points"), and the traffic will only get worse if the roundabout goes in. Some drivers are seemingly going twice as fast as the 25 mph limit."
  • "Kelly Lane."
  • "Salmon Brook Park."
  • "Pretty much every one..."
  • "Miller definitely. It's a racetrack!"
  • "Bank St."
  • " Zimmer Rd! People use it to cut through and go much too fast! Lots of small children around."
  • "West Granby Rd, please."
  • "Fern Hollow Dr. People go 40 to 50 and have even passed me going up a hill as I pull out of the driveway!"
