Two veteran educators are retiring; The district's finance supervisor is resigning.

GREENWICH, CT - Three Greenwich Public School administrators — including two veterans with a total of 68 years of working with Greenwich students, are leaving the district.
After a 38-year career with the district, Greenwich High School’s Bella House Administrator Richard V. Alessi announced his retirement, effective June 30. Alessi has served as Bella House Administrator since 2012 and the head of the social studies department since 2007.
Dolores Kenny, the district’s Preschool Program Coordinator for eight years, has announced her retirement, effective July 1, after 30 years with the district. She previously served 23 years as assistant principal of North Street School.

And the district’s Finance Supervisor, Anthony Giovannone, has accepted a position as the Director of Fiscal Services and Operations for the New Milford Public Schools, effective on or about March 14, according to the district. Giovannone began working for the Town of Greenwich in 2003 as a Financial Analyst in the Finance Department at Town Hall. In 2011, he was appointed Finance Supervisor for the Greenwich Public Schools.
The search for a high school house administrator will begin immediately.
Of Alessi's tenure, GHS Headmaster Chris Winters said in a statement, “Rich’s legacy is a powerful one. Always an innovator, he introduced team teaching (English/Social Studies) to Central Junior HS and was a mainstay of curriculum development projects in his years at Greenwich High School. As Program Administrator, he steered the department through a major set of revisions to bring it into compliance with the new state standards.”
Winters added, “His steady hand and emphasis on empowering the staff during these years of change were a hallmark of his leadership. He will be genuinely missed.” Alessi began his career at Central Middle School back in 1978 when the school was known as Central Junior High School.
Director of Pupil Personnel Services Mary Forde said in a statement, “Dr. Kenny has had a significant impact on our preschool program during her tenure as the Coordinator. She has worked with staff to understand and implement the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards in all Greenwich Preschool classes.”
Forde added, “Dolores has also brought the early childhood perspective to the curriculum and achievement gap initiatives and has strengthened the partnerships with the private and public preschools in town. Her enthusiasm and commitment will be missed.”
