Driver Thrown To Ground During Carjacking, 2 Suspects Arrested In NY: Greenwich Police

Two people have been arrested following a carjacking in Greenwich on Nov. 8, according to police.

GREENWICH, CT — Police have made two arrests and recovered a stolen vehicle in connection with a carjacking that occurred in Greenwich this past weekend.

Officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the area of mid-country Greenwich on Nov. 8 at approximately 3:53 p.m.

"The victim reported being physically forced out of their vehicle and then thrown to the ground by an unknown suspect. The suspect then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle," police said, noting a blue Audi may have been acting as a trail vehicle. The victim declined medical attention.

Police say an investigation, led by a Greenwich police detective currently assigned to a CT State Police statewide task force and in collaboration with multiple law enforcement agencies, resulted in the arrest of two suspects in New York and the recovery of the stolen vehicle on Nov. 10.

Police did not identify the suspects or list any related charges.

"Through this ongoing investigation, detectives have determined that many recent victims of similar incidents were targeted after visiting businesses located on or near the Post Road (East and West Putnam Avenue)," police said in an announcement. "Organized auto theft crews are known to operate along these major roadways, identifying and following potential victims before committing thefts."

Police thanked those who worked on the investigation, including the NYPD, FBI Safe Streets Task Force and Westchester County Police Department.

"The swift investigation led to the quick identification and apprehension of the suspects," police said. "The Greenwich Police Department reminds residents to remain vigilant, be aware of their surroundings, and immediately report any suspicious activity."
