GREENWICH, CT — As is customary this time of year, the Greenwich Department of Public Works will implement a roadwork moratorium during the holiday season to lessen traffic headaches as residents are out and about.

"Greenwich is always a popular destination for holiday shopping and fun, and I want to thank the Department of Public Works for helping to lessen traffic during the holidays with its annual moratorium on private, non-emergency roadwork," First Selectman Fred Camillo said in his weekly newsletter Friday.

The moratorium will begin Nov. 24 and last through Jan. 2. According to Camillo, there will be no roadway openings, excavations, blocking or restricting public sidewalks or parking spaces in the central business districts of downtown Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Riverside, Cos Cob, Byram or Glenville unless there is an emergency.
