"Thank you 151! I am honored and humbled!" Arzeno said in a Facebook post.
Sherr is a former Greenwich Board of Education member.
"It was not our night tonight, but that's OK. Everyone in this room worked really hard, and I want to say thank you," Sherr said in brief remarks at a GOP gathering in Greenwich Tuesday night.
Democratic challenger Rachel Khanna defeated Republican Kimberly Fiorello in the race for the 149th House District by just 210 votes, the CT Secretary of State website showed.
The district covers Greenwich and a portion of Stamford. Fiorello carried Greenwich with 3,389 votes compared to Khanna's 3,093.
"This was a hard fought race and I am very proud of this victory. Thank you all for your support," Khanna said on Facebook Tuesday night.
Khanna, who has worked in marketing at Morgan Stanley Asset Management and recently opened an organic dinner delivery service in Greenwich, served on the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting for two terms as a representative for District 10.
Fiorello was elected in 2021 to the 149th District. She served on the education committee, judiciary committee and planning and development committee.
"You can't expect to win every skirmish in a war, but you can expect to win the war. And we will win the ultimate battle, which is to fight four our rights and principles and protect our country," Fiorello said Tuesday night in Greenwich.
In another close race, according to unofficial results, incumbent state Sen. Ryan Fazio (R-36) received 96 more votes than Democratic challenger Trevor Crow. The district covers all of Greenwich and portions of Stamford and New Canaan.
Fazio issued a statement to Patch early Wednesday morning expressing confidence that his campaign had won. A recount in the race is expected.
"I am deeply grateful to the voters for their support and faith in me. After spending the evening with our campaign team counting all votes across the district, I am confident we have won. Under state law, we expect the margin to trigger an automatic recount," Fazio said. "Regardless, we are confident in the result and I am deeply grateful to the community for putting their faith in me for another term. We have much work to do to protect our community and improve our state and I am eager to continue that work."
Crow told the Greenwich Time she won’t concede until a recount is held. Patch has reached out to Crow's campaign for comment.
In the race for the 150th House District, Democratic incumbent Steve Meskers defeated Republican challenger Ed Lopez. The district represents the shoreline of Greenwich.
Meskers had 5,004 votes; Lopez had 3,500 votes, CT Secretary of State website said.
"We have, in my view, a lot to look forward to. Let's help those who won tonight do their best jobs in Hartford. Let's get ready to win the next one," Lopez said Tuesday night at a GOP gathering.
Meskers, who is also a member of the Greenwich Representative Town Meeting, was first elected in 2018, and won again in 2020. Lopez is also a member of the RTM. He has worked as a public relations consultant, and has served in the US Army Reserve and National Guard.
"Ed Lopez ran an incredible campaign. He was dignified, he was respectful," Meskers told Patch Tuesday night.
Meskers also spoke about the new delegation that will be going up to Hartford with him.
"It helps me that I'm not the sole democrat in the delegation… Now we will have a voice in the delegation up in Hartford, and Greenwich will get a seat at the table."
