Greenwich Historical Society Fall Festival Turns an Eye to the East

COS COB, CT - The Greenwich Historical Society's upcoming exhibition, An Eye to the East: The Inspiration of Japan will set the tone for its annual Fall Festival on Sunday, October 9, 2106. Visitors can look forward to demonstrations of traditional Japanese dance by the Greenwich Japanese School and martial arts displays by World Seido Karate Studio, along with kite making, face painting and a special family-friendly tour of Bush-Holley House.

The five-star-rated HAPA Food Truck will be on site offering lucky diners the opportunity to sample its heralded "American street food with an Asian twist." From tacos, Korean ribs and poke bowls to awesome burgers (tuna and beef), fries and juices, there's something for everyone.

Guests can also take part in the perennially favorite scarecrow-making competition. Registration fee is $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers (in addition to festival admission). The fee includes armature ("the bones"), hay for stuffing, twine and a burlap sack for the head. Participants are encouraged to bring their own "accessories" to adorn their figures, but materials will also be on hand for all sorts of themed original creations. Might we see some straw geishas and samurai standing out in the field this year? Advance enrollment for this activity is requested.
