Greenwich PD Car Rear-Ended; Driver Faces DWI Charge
A nearly empty bottle of Dewar's scotch was found inside the suspect's car.
A Greenwich Police officer wasn’t injured when his patrol car was rear-ended by a suspected drunk driver about 6 p.m. Monday.
The unidentified officer was stopped for the traffic light at the intersection of Mason and East Elm streets when the driver of a 2003 Toyota Corolla struck him from behind, pushing the 2013 Ford Taurus patrol car about nine feet, according to police spokesman, Lt. Kraig Gray. Neither driver was injured.
“Officers noticed (the driver) was slurring his words and was having difficulty completing sentences,” police wrote in their report. “Officers observed in plain view a nearly empty bottle of Dewar’s scotch,” according to the report.
