The following was submitted to Patch by Greenwich High School senior Ella Whitridge.

My name is Ella Whitridge, and I am a senior at Greenwich High School. A little more than a year ago, I met Commander Peter Le Beau and began a journey of learning about and volunteering for the American Legion Post #29 in Glenville. I have been honored to hear so much about what the members at this post do for local veterans and for the Greenwich community, particularly for our youth.

I have founded the group “Teens Answer the Call: Students for Veterans”, inviting middle school and high school kids to join me in doing what we can to show the Greenwich Veterans that we support and honor them. They have given so much to allow us our freedoms, it is the least we could do to thank them for their service to our country!

My friends and I would love your support as we raise funds for Post #29 to continue the programs that they champion, among them Scouting, Boys State & Girls State, and generally assisting local veterans. Please help by making a tax-free donation at https://givebutter.com/alpost29CT. All donations will go directly to the American Legion Post #29, a 501(c)(19) organization.

We will also have a table set up outside the Upper Crust Bagel Shop in Old Greenwich this Sunday morning, August 10th and will be accepting donations in person. Please stop by to say hello and show your support!
