Pet Waste Bags Left In Storm Drains In Greenwich, Camillo Urges Cleanliness
First Selectman Fred Camillo spoke about the dangers of clogging storm drains in his most recent community newsletter.

GREENWICH, CT — Following an uptick in the number of pet waste bags that are being left in and around storm drains in Greenwich, First Selectman Fred Camillo is urging dog owners to clean up their act.
In his most recent community newsletter, Camillo spoke about the dangers of clogging storm drains, especially with waste bags that contain dog feces.
"Town storm drains are only designed to be able to carry stormwater and when things like leaves, pet waste and trash enter the system it can cause backups in the drains which can then result in flooding and long-term damage to our infrastructure," Camillo said, noting that stormwater in storm drains is not treated.

"I know there’s not always a handy trash bin nearby, but leaving these bags lying around, especially near storm drains, can do damage and we need to take better care to keep our storm drains clear," he said.
