St. Roch Church Pastor Steps Down
Amid controversy, the leader of the Greenwich parish has resigned.

GREENWICH, CT - The Rev. Matthew Mauriello has resigned as pastor of St. Roch Church in the Chickahominy neighborhood of town where he had served for seven years.
His departure was announced to the parish last Sunday and a spokesman for the Diocese of Bridgeport said that personnel issues and discontent among parishioners led to Mauriello's stepping down, according to Greenwich Time.
Brian Wallace, the diocese’s communications director, told the newspaper that the decision for Mauriello to resign came after a meeting with diocesan administrators. Wallace also said there wasn't any wrongdoing or an investigation that led to the decision.

Mauriello will be reassigned to another post in the diocese.
Until his successor is appointed, the diocese’s vicar general, Msgr. Tom Powers, will assume temporary leadership of the parish with other priests celebrating daily Mass, according to the Greenwich Time story that can be found here.
