Wind Advisory, Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued for Connecticut

The National Weather Service says wind gusts could exceed 50 mph, which could make driving difficult.

The National Weather Service has issued a “Wind Advisory” and a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London counties until 1 p.m. Wednesday.

The weather service also has the same advisories for Hartford and Tolland counties, but until 5 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service bulletin for Connecticut:

* HAZARDS...STRONG WINDS.

* WINDS...WEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 TO 50 MPH FOR SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT AND FOR HARTFORD AND TOLLAND COUNTIES THEY CAN EXPECT WINDS OF 20 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 45 MPH.

* TIMING...STRONGEST WINDS WILL OCCUR THIS MORNING...THEN SLOWLY
DIMINISHING DURING THE AFTERNOON.

* TIMING...HIGHEST WINDS WILL OCCUR THIS MORNING.

* IMPACTS...SCATTERED TREE LIMBS AND BRANCHES DOWNED. ISOLATED POWER OUTAGES. DIFFICULTY DRIVING HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS OF 31 TO 39 MPH… OR GUSTS OF 46 TO 57 MPH...ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.

It will be freezing cold tonight with temps in the teens, and it doesn’t warm up again until Friday when temps rebound back into the low to mid 40s.

It also now appears that we’re looking at rain and not snow this weekend.
