Woman Faces Larceny Charge for Scarf Theft

Greenwich Police say the suspect was seen on store security video 'secreting' the item.

Store security video helped Greenwich Police and employees of a downtown Greenwich boutique to identify the woman suspected of pilfering an expensive scarf from the store.

It was back on Nov. 13, 2013, that the scarf valued at several hundred dollars was taken from the Greenwich Avenue store. “She is known the company. There was an inventory check and records were reviewed. There was a video in which she was observed secreting the item,” according to police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray.

Police had obtained an arrest warrant charging the woman, identified as Marlene S. Polansky, 68, of 8 Stonehenge Rd., Weston, with fifth-degree larceny. Greenwich Police arrested Polansky on Jan. 15 after they were notified by Fairfield Police that they had Polansky in custody.
