Crafts for Everyone, the Peace Corps Experience and a Scavenger Hunt

Five things you really need to know today, July 30!

1. Today's supposed to be a perfect summer day. The National Weather Service forecasts sunny skies with a high near 80 and tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 61.

2. Does your non-profit need a few extra hands? High School students will be looking for community service projects when school starts up again and if your non-profit organization is in need of assistance, check out www.ugive.org to find out how to get volunteers. Registration is free.  This is a Win/Win opportunity.

3. The library has programs for people of all ages today. There’s a kids craft program from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., a teen craft program from 2 to 4 p.m. and a beginning genealogy class from 3 to 4 p.m. The library is also playing the movie “Jimi Sir” tonight. “Jimi Sir” is a film chronicling James Park's Peace Corps service in a remote village of Nepal.

4. And at Groton’s historic Bill Memorial Library there’s a scavenger hunt for summer readers in grades 1-5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Don’t miss it, there are prizes to be won!

5.  Did you see the Blessing of the Fleet in Stonington Sunday? Patch was there and we have plenty of pictures to prove it. Click here for photos and here’s a great video of more.
