
1. Today is Friday, Feb. 17. The National Weather Service predicts rain or drizzle before 10 a.m., then cloudy skies with gradual clearing and a high temperature of 49 degrees. Tonight will be clear, with a low of 32 degrees.
2. Superintendent Paul Kadri and Wes Greenleaf, director of facilities and maintenence for the public schools, will provide a tour of the three middle schools on Saturday, March 3. The tour will focus on the buildings and mechanical systems. The tour will be held from 8 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. at Cutler Middle School; from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Fitch Middle School; and from 11 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at West Side Middle School. 3. Groton Town Hall and Groton city municipal offices will be closed on Monday in observance of President's Day. Town Hall will reopen at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday; city muncipal offices will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

4. The Department of Social Services Medicare Rx-Xpress Bus will be at Groton Human Services from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Feb. 23 if you need medical or food stamp assistance. The bus provides Medicaid and Medicare help, HUSKY medical insurance assistance and food stamp applications. Appointments are recommended; call (860) 441-6760 for more information.
5. The Groton Senior Citizens’ Club 55 will be offering $500 achievement awards to Groton high school students starting at the end of this month. Applications will be available through the school guidance office, if you know someone who would like to apply.
