Five Things to Know Thursday, July 5

1.  Today is Thursday, July 5.  The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies and a high temperature of 83 degrees. Tonight will be clear, with a low of 65.

2.  will hold a kick-off celebration at 3 p.m. on July 9 to mark the start of restoration work at the library. Contractors estimate it will take about three months to complete the project, which will include repairs to the terra cotta roofs and stained glass windows. Workers will also remove lead paint and asbestos.

3.  The continues at 6 p.m. today at Esker Point Beach. The group Barefoot Truth will perform. The concerts are free and open to the public. Parking is $10 per car or $5 for a motorcycle at the beach, and there's free parking and shuttle from Fitch High School.
