1. Today is Monday, March 26. The National Weather Service predicts mostly sunny skies, a high temperature of 52 degrees and a breeze of 13 to 23 mph. Gusts could go as high as 36 mph. The low will fall to 30 degrees tonight.
2. The Noank Community Market has signed up more than 300 members and will hold a grand opening on May 5, the group told its members Sunday. last summer, and is turning it into a cooperative market with organic products, a grocery, deli, bakery and a catering business. More than 80 of the 300 members have pledged loans. The board needs $250,000 to buy equipment, inventory and pay staff.
3. The Groton Board of Education meets at 5:30 p.m. today in the school administrative offices to discuss redistricting of its schools. The schools are looking at redistricting to consolidate from three middle schools to two and tp correct a racial imbalance at Catherine Kolnaski Magnet school. 4. It could cost up to $600 million more to build Virginia-class submarines if the Navy delays construction of one of the ships from 2014 to 2018, according to defense.AOL.com. The website said two lawmakers, including Sen. Joe Lieberman, are fighting to prevent the delay. Congress last year approved building two Virginia submarines per year starting in 2012, but the defense plan now calls for one ship to be built in 2014 and the other delayed until 2018.
5. The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut will hold a business after hours networking event from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on April 4 at Webster Bank on Long Hill Road in Groton. The chamber draws an average of 150 business leaders to its networking meetings. The cost is $15 for members and $25 for non-members, with a $5 walk-in fee.
