The paving project on Route 12 from Crystal Lake Road in Groton to Route 2A in Preston started on July 16 and is scheduled to be done Sept. 7, according to the state Department of Transportation website. The $3.16 million project includes resurfacing the road, improving drainage and installing new traffic signal loop detectors. American Industries was awarded the contract on June 29.

5. from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today as part of Outreach to Haiti to support poor children in the country. The event will include hamburger dinners from local 97 Farm, music by The First Responders and a silent auction of Haitian art. Sit at Carsons and enjoy the dinner or set up across the street and enjoy the outdoor music. Organizers are asking for a $5 donation.
