Daily Five: Summer Solstice Art Exhibit Kicks Off Today

1. Today is Thursday, May 31. The National Weather Service predicts sunny skies and a high temperature of 77 degrees. Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low of 53.
2. The kicks off with an opening reception at 6 p.m. today in Groton Public Library. Artwork will be displayed in the Community Room during June. The Summer Solstice Celebration is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20. For more information, call Linda Wallace at (860) 441-6750.

3. The Noank Village House & Garden Tour is coming up from 11 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on June 16. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 the day of the tour, and are available at Bank Square Books, Mystical Toys of Mystic and the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center as well as online at www.noankvillagetour.com. 4. Groton City Mayor Marian Galbraith and Groton Town Mayor Heather Bond Somers will speak at The State of Groton/Ledyard luncheon from 11:30 a.m until 1 p.m. on June 20 at the Best Western Olympic Inn in Groton. Groton Town Manger Mark Oefinger and Ledyard Mayor John Rodolico are also scheduled to speak. The cost of the event is $15 for members of the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut and $20 for non-members.

5. Fitch High School has a couple of important dates coming up for seniors. The Honor Cord Assembly will be held at 6:30 p.m. on June 4; The Senior Awards & Scholarships Assembly will be held at 6:30 p.m. on June 7; and senior prom is June 9. Graduation rehearsals are June 14, 21 and 22.
