Daily Five: The Registration Deadline for Groton’s July 4 Parade Is Friday

Five Things To Know, Thursday, June 7

 

1.  Today is Thursday, June 7.  The National Weather Service predicts partly sunny skies, a high temperature of 66 degrees and a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. Tonight will be mostly cloudy, with a low of 55 degrees.

2.  Friday is the last day to register for the annual Fourth of July Parade, sponsored by the Town of Groton.  The 34th holiday parade is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 4. The theme of the parade is “Music of America,” and Former Groton City Mayor and former Town Councilor Catherine Kolnaski will serve s the grand marshal.

The form to participate in the parade is available online and can be submitted at www.grotonrec.com. Don’t forget to include an announcement to be read as the group passes the reviewing stand.

3.  Stop by on Cottrell Street in Mystic from to 5 to 8 p.m., for an . Gaffke will be the featured artist at Studio M for the month of June. She will share her latest paintings.

4.  Summer is almost here and Groton Patch is looking for  residents to share their summer adventures on our site. If you'll be traveling to South America, doing charity work nearby, planning a funny family reunion, we want to hear about it. 

All you have to do is take pictures of your journey and/or write an interesting chronicle about your summer travels along the way.

Students in the Groton area are encouraged to document their summer adventures as well as anyone who’ll be engaging in activities this summer that you think would make for a fun and interesting read. It could be about a weeklong trip, weekend trip, day trip, a summer sport league you’re participating in, an unconventional wedding you’re attending or even why you’re not vacationing this summer. 5. Do you own a ? Owners or managers should search for their business listing and select "claim your listing" in order to make updates to the page. A form will pop up asking for your name, contact information, and proof of ownership.
