Emaciated Dog in Groton Receives Care From Community
Farley traveled to Groton from down south and already captured people's hearts. In less than a day, he received 14 bags of food from fans.
Farley the Pit Bull Terrier is very tiny. At approximately one-years-old, he only weights 17 lbs. and you can count the ribs through his skin.
Friday's Rescue Foundation of Groton issued a plea on Facebook last week, asking for high-quality food to help Farley gain weight and strength when he arrived.
He traveled to Groton from a state down south.
"Our awesome veterinarians are willing to take on this case,” the foundation said via Facebook on April 8. "We are asking for some help; Farley is in need quality puppy food to help him put on some weight.”

In less than 24 hours, people donated 14 bags of food for Farley.
"Check out all the food donated for Farley yesterday,” Friday’s Rescue Foundation wrote via Facebook. "Thank you to everyone who donated or shared his story!”
The food Farley needs must be of a higher quality. Friday’s staff said as long as the first few ingredients are real meat, then Farley can eat the food.
Bags of dry food may be dropped off at Friday's Rescue Foundation, 270 Rodgers Rd., Groton, CT 06340 or mailed to that address. Staff ask that people donating food for Farley write his name on the bag of food or the box they are mailing.
One Friday’s Facebook fan said it best:
"Wow! I was so touched by all the generous donations in one afternoon to help Farley. So much love for a dog no one has even met!! Lots of love and big hearts out there ! Thank you!” — Alwynn Mattern
