Branded at Esker Point, Sherlock Holmes at Gillette Castle and Reading in Poquonnock Plains Park

2. So, today is the first day of August, happy August! Did you know that in common years no other month starts on the same day of the week as August? Wikipedia says that August ends on the same day of the week as November every year and in leap years, February and August start on the same day. 

3. Join Miss Tracy at Poquonnock Plains Park from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for an outdoor story time!  Program will feature stories, songs, and playtime in Poquonnock Plains Park today. No Registration is required and all ages are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair.

4. Branded is tonight’s featured band at Esker Point. The summer concert series is free and begins at 6 p.m.

5. This weekend’s stocked with fun things to do locally and if you’re willing to travel, this is the second to last weekend to see Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Speckled Band at the Gillette Castle. The shows are free and start at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The 30-minute performance is produced by the East Haddam Stage Company, who say, “Come be part of the 'studio audience' at our live 'radio' show! We're using the actual 1930 radio script used by William Gillette himself!” Gillette Castle is located at 67 River Road in East Haddam – BYO Blanket!
