Groton City and Town on the Road to Resolution

The two parties are scheduled to meet and resolve who is responsible for road construction and maintenance.

Groton City and the Town of Groton have been disagreeing on issues of road maintenance each budget season for some years and now mayors and lawyers from both parties are going to get together and try to hash it out once and for all.

The issue came to a head this year when Groton Town Council cut the City’s road and police budget by $476,549, according to a report in The Day.  The money was restored after City Mayor Marian Galbrath said she’d seek mediation on the issue.

The report also says that next week the two sides will sort out who’s responsible for road construction and maintenance like snow plowing and sidewalks for instance.
