Groton City Councilors Approve 16.9M Budget
The budget includes cuts to highway and police spending.

Groton City Council passed a $16.9 million budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year, which will maintain the current tax rate of 4.5 mills.
The budget is $7,291 less than this year’s plan and includes cuts to the highway maintenance and the police funds, according to a report in The Day newspaper, which says that the highway budget is down six percent from this year’s to $2.169 million and the police budget was decreased by 1.2 percent “and includes money for 29 sworn personnel.”
