Groton Police Study a “$50,000 Farce”

Representatives say a recent draft of a report is inaccurate and doesn't answer the questions they asked.

Editor's note: This article has been updated to say that the town has not yet paid for the report and is deciding whether or not it actually will.

Groton has contracted a study that would reveal if it’s worthwhile to combine the three local police departments and after a draft of the report circulated, town councilors are still left wondering.

The town has not yet agreed to pay the 48,000 for the report, according to Mayor Heather Somers, which was published by Police Executive Research Forum, according to a repot in The Day. Groton councilors said that not only did it not address police department consolidation, it was also  “filled with incorrect data and could not be used in its current state.”
