Groton Senior Center Presents "What's It Worth" Community Antiques Appraisal Event

The second annual "What's it Worth?" community antiques appraisal event takes place Saturday, July 16.

(Groton, Conn.) – The Groton Senior Center presents the second annual What’s it Worth? community antiques appraisal event on Saturday, July 16 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Groton Senior Center, 102 Newtown Road, Groton. The event is inspired by PBS’s “Antiques Roadshow” and features local certified appraisers who will be on hand to meet with the public for individual discussions and appraisals of antiques, family heirlooms, and other items. Thames Valley Communications has generously sponsored the event.

The following certified appraisers have volunteered to offer appraisals at the event. Some will also have items available for sale.

  • Larry Shapiro – Generalist
  • Millers Stamp Company – Stamps
  • Pawcatuck Valley Coin Club – Coins
  • Mike Westman – Generalist – Ethnographic, Silver, Oriental Rugs, Orientalia & good working knowledge in jewelry
  • Justine DeMetrick – Designer Jewelry, Costume jewelry, Post War design (MCM) modernism and working knowledge in other areas
  • Tom Chiarella, Back in Time Traveling Toy Show – Toy Appraiser
  • Eldred’s – Generalist – Josh Eldred – Fine Arts and Leah Kingman – Decorative Arts (which includes silver & jewelry)
  • Grader Jewelers - Jewelry

The public is invited to bring up to two items for appraisal. The fee is $5 per item. Funds raised will benefit the Groton Senior Center’s programs and services for local seniors such as meals, social activities, and programming. Refreshments will also be available for a donation to the Groton Senior Center’s Club 55.
