McKenna Tapped as Groton’s Interim Superintendent

Sean McKenna has been with the district nearly ten years.

Groton’s interim assistant superintendent Sean McKenna has been named the interim superintendent beginning July 1, according to a report in The Day newspaper.

McKenna, who has been with the district for approximately nine years, has held many positions in the district including English teacher and assistant principal at Fitch High School.

Patch reported last summer that he was appointed to interim assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction and then he was hired permanently for the position.

The article in The Day states that he'll focus on preparing for the next school year, which will be different due to redistricting, moving forward with a summer program to encourage reading and preparing for new state-mandated teacher evaluations.”

The board will be seeking a permanent replacement for former Superintendent Paul Kadri who was dismissed in March after and arbitrator ruled “that Kadri engaged in conduct warranting termination.”
