'Dangerous Social Media Door Kick Challenge': Groton Police Issue Warning (patch.com) — Groton police are warning residents about a dangerous “door-kicking challenge” where teens film themselves kicking doors late at night and posting the reactions online. Officers urge parents to talk with their kids, and recommend neighbors stay vigilant, consider cameras or motion lights, and promptly report any incidents to law enforcement.
   

2. Neighbors call for safety fixes after pickup truck damages Groton home (wfsb.com) — A Groton family is displaced after a pickup truck slammed into their Utica Court home at Routes 1 and 117, knocking the house off its foundation but fortunately injuring no one. Neighbors say this is the second crash in a week at the same spot and are pressing for guardrails or other fixes as the town asks the state DOT to review the dangerous intersection.
   

3. Training flight ends in gear-up landing (generalaviationnews.com) — A training flight at Groton’s airport ended in a gear-up landing after both pilots became distracted by air traffic control and forgot to extend the landing gear. The plane skidded along the runway, causing substantial damage, but investigators found no mechanical problems and are sharing the case as a safety lesson for pilots.
   

4. General Dynamics Receives Special Dry Dock for Columbia Submarine Development (thedefensepost.com) — A massive new floating dry dock named Atlas has arrived at General Dynamics Electric Boat’s South Yard in Groton, boosting the shipyard’s role in building the Navy’s next-generation Columbia-class submarines. The 618-foot mobile dock will handle vessel testing and launch ceremonies, supporting a multibillion-dollar program that secures long-term submarine construction work and federal investment tied directly to Groton’s industrial waterfront.
   

5. $80M Pawcatuck redevelopment project entering next phase (theday.com) — A major $80 million redevelopment in Pawcatuck is moving into its next phase, with new apartments expected to open as early as June and a technology center about to break ground. Developers say they’re designing the complex to be an attractive home base for workers commuting to Electric Boat in Groton and Quonset Point, with some units reserved as more affordable housing.
