• Adapting to flooding southeastern Connecticut (theday.com) — Groton officials are rolling out concrete steps to reduce neighborhood flooding, from retrofitting culverts and replacing pavement with permeable pavers to promoting rain gardens and rain barrels for residents. Both the Town and City of Groton are using state and federal grants, plus partnerships with groups like The Nature Conservancy, to test nature-based solutions at libraries, community centers, and the Five Corners district. Their goal is to cut stormwater runoff, cool hot streets, and give property owners practical ways to protect homes and businesses.
