Poquonnock Bridge Takes Key Vote Tonight

Fire District Residents meet at 6:30 p.m. in Groton Senior Center.

The Poquonnock Bridge Fire District will gather at 6:30 p.m. today in the Groton Senior Center to consider whether to expand its governing committee from five to nine members.

. There is dispute over whether this would save money and be a better system.

Groton has nine independent fire districts that provide fire protection and emergency services to residents who live in the districts they cover. Poquonnock Bridge is the largest of the nine, and is a career fire department, so it has paid staff rather than volunteers.
