Proof of Heaven, Blood Drive, Farmer's Market
Five things to know about today, August 13.

- Today’s the one bad apple in a week of great weather. The National Weather Service says, showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 7am. Cloudy, with a high near 75. It might be rainy through the evening and drop down to 61 degrees.
- Anyone can get their blood pressure checked for free today at the Groton Senior Center beginning at 11 a.m.
- Speaking of blood, would you donate some of yours? The Groton Municipal Building is hosting a blood drive for the American Red Cross Thursday. There is a shortage of blood and you are literally saving someone’s life with your donation.
- The Bill Memorial Library is hosting a farmers’ market on today from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. They’ll have fresh, locally-grown produce and flowers.
- If you’re up for a little jaunt, acclaimed neurosurgeon and author Dr. Eben Alexander will lead a discussion on his book “Proof of Heaven” tonight in at the Watch Hill Chapel at 6:30 p.m. The evening promises a “thought-provoking dialogue about afterlife and science” which will be followed by a reception at the Ocean House.
