Road Closures During Sub Fest Fireworks On Saturday

Police Say Drivers Should Expect Traffic Near Event

Groton Town Police provided the following statement about road closures during the Sub Fest fireworks display:

On Saturday July 2, 2011, Sub Fest will be having a fireworks display at the event site, which is on the Submarine Base.

The display, which is an annual tradition, is expected to start at 9:20 p.m. Because of this special event, everyone should expect heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic in and around Rte 12, Crystal Lake Road, and Military Hwy.

The following road closures and restrictions will be in effect on Sunday Evening.

Military Hwy: from Grove Avenue to Fulton Drive will be restricted to local traffic only and be subject to closure of vehicular traffic between Fulton Drive and Crystal Lake Road.

Crystal Lake Road: Will be subject to closure to vehicular traffic between 9 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. We also urge all patrons parking off base to adhere to parking regulations and local ordinances.

All illegally parked vehicles will be subject to ticketing as well as being towed at the owners expense.
