Town Council to Commend Groton's First Responders, Last Day to Catch Summer Sounds Concert!
Five things you should know today, August 6.
- Today’s expected to be really nice. The National Weather Service forecasts a nice, sunny day with a high around 76. Tonight will be partly cloudy with a low around 59.
- Groton Town Councilors will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Annex. The agenda is loaded but of note, they’ll begin the meeting by recognizing Groton’s first responders.
- FEMA and DEEP will host meetings in Old Lyme on Thursday to discuss the “extensive changes to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) which includes the gradual elimination of subsidized rates for Pre-FIRM structures (older homes built before the flood maps).” The will likely change your flood insurance and your wallet so unless you like surprises, you better check it out. The public meetings are from 5 to 8 p.m. at 333 Ferry Road in Old Lyme.
- Everyone’s invited to get your blood pressure checked for free at the Groton Senior Center.
- Tonight’s the last installment of Summer Sounds Concert Series. The Mystic-Noank Community band will perform in the Mystic River Park beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
