Two Teens Admit to Lighting Groton Barn on Fire, Officials Say

A 15- and 16-year-old were arrested on arson charges after a barn at 51 North Rd. burned to the ground.

A 51 North Rd. barn caught on fire and collapsed Tuesday, Feb. 9. The barn was standing since the 1900s and once belonged to Ted Ackley Jr.

No animals were residing in the barn and no injuries were reported.

According to Fire Marshal Kale B. Kiely via The Day, two teenagers were arrested on charges of arson after admitting to starting the fire after they went inside the barn to keep warm.
